God has been kind to us throughout this storm and resulting flood. We will assess our St. Nicholas Church’s condition soon. Please stay safe and in good health. Services for Sunday, September 16 have been cancelled. All meetings and classes are cancelled this week and will be rescheduled at a later date after the storm. We hope to celebrate services next weekend with great joy!

We will keep you all posted with any news and updates. There is a way to monitor the flood waters and the roads that are drivable in our area. If you open google maps and select satellite view and traffic options, you can view road closures in our area. Currently, anyone who evacuated is not able to return. We hope and pray those in the Wilmington area are getting electricity and other services restored. The flood waters are due to recede later this week. I pray you all will be safe!!!

I have gotten word from IOCC they are sending a truck from Minnesota to help with the cleanup. Their arrival might be on Sunday and they are setting up at St. Basil’s. Although the roads are still flooded, let us reach out to our neighbors in need and help where we can. My hope is to return as soon as possible. IOCC has indicated they will be looking for volunteers to help with the cleanup. Let’s make this a joint effort with St. Basil to help as many as possible.

As our region recovers from Hurricane Florence, let us take time to thank God for His protection. If anyone has suffered loss of any kind please let me know. This is when we can truly be the loving community in Christ. Helping each other is what we are called to do! I pray everyone is safe and in good health. If you evacuated, return when it is safe. God bless you and keep you.

Love Always,

Fr. Jon
