Attention all Saint Nicholas Stewards, and surrounding area residents, the 2020 Wilmington Greek Festival has been postponed due to the worsening COVID-19 Pandemic. Originally scheduled to be held during the weekend of May 15-17, the 28th annual festival will be held instead on Columbus Day Weekend: OCTOBER 9-11, 2020.
This was a unanimous decision made by the entire Greek Festival Committee at Saint Nicholas, out of love and concern for our parishioners and neighbors. The festival draws over 10,000 attendees on average annually in addition to the hundreds of volunteer workers who serve them. "In our conversations, we could find no foreseeable way in which we could safely hold our festival during those dates" said Co-Chair Nick Saffo. "There are some decisions in life that are difficult to make, and others like this one that are simply made for you."
Co-Chair Lee King continued saying "During this Spring, we must shift our focus to praying for and assisting those in need here locally. We have already begun making arrangements to hold our festival in October, and we anticipate another successful event to help support the mission of our Church as well as our local benefiting charities." The 2020 Wilmington Greek Festival will be dedicating part of its proceeds to assisting the Good Shepherd Center and First Fruit Ministries.
