"So we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another."

Our Mission

Our Family Life Ministry is dedicated to providing uplifting and diverse resources for faithful of all ages and walks of life as they deal with life's daily joy's and struggles in an Orthodox way. We aim to support our young families, young adults, newlyweds, special needs families, and grieving believers. This is a constantly growing and developing ministry that will evolve as the needs of our Saint Nicholas Family does.

Family Night Events

A Saint Nicholas parish favorite, these monthly events begin with an evening vespers service, then continue with a complimentary family meal for all, and an engaging activity and discussion for all ages. Our Saint Nicholas Family is made up like any family: young, old, men, women, children, grandparents. If you call Saint Nicholas home, then that makes you family, and these nights are for you! Contact our Family Life Ministry lead to find out more about these events, or to volunteer as a Family Night Host.

Young Adult Ministries

Saint Nicholas offers several ministries for our young adults. For our college students locally we have "Orthodox Christian Fellowship," a nation-wide Pan-Orthodox organization. We have a local chapter here in Wilmington right across the street at UNCW. In addition we have events for our own young professionals, plus pre-marital counseling, and spiritual resources for our newlyweds. In all cases, our goal for our Young Adult ministries is to provide a community of Orthodox peers as a support and guide during these critical years before these faithful start their own families.

Forever Young

The purpose of the Saint Nicholas "Forever Young" Seniors Ministry is to provide fellowship and a program of activities for the benefit of its members. In addition, the group exists to provide a forum for the members to discuss their mutual matters of interest and to look for solutions thereof. The Forever Young also assist in carrying out scheduled activities and projects for the benefit of the entire Saint Nicholas parish. Membership is extended to all adults in the Saint Nicholas Family!

Prayer & Homebound Teams

Wilmington is a thriving community of all walks of life, including a large demographic in our local area of retired seniors, many of whom are unable to leave the house. Our Homebound Visitation Team responds in ministering to this population by volunteering to make monthly house visits to a few elderly/infirm parishioners to encourage them and pray with them. In addition to these house calls, we also have a prayer team that devotes at least three times per week to offer prayers for those in need. Both of these teams work in conjunction with our Saint Nicholas clergy to provide spiritual care to our faithful!
